I refer to myself as a calligrapher, but if calligraphy is simply defined as beautiful writing, then what I do goes far beyond that definition.

While my work involves classical letter forms, my journey continues into abstract letter forms and pure abstraction. Whether the discussion is classical letter forms or abstraction, the concept of a calligraphic mark has evolved to include marks of all kinds.

These marks can be made with conventional tools, or we can create new tools for new types of marks. I have recreated various experimental lettering tools and have designed a new set of brass folded pens. Here is my passion. This is the spirit of exploration and the joy in the journey.
